For as long as I can remember, I felt like I was chasing someone else’s idea of success — stuck in a routine, checking off boxes, playing it safe. The cultural script handed to so many of us: day jobs, promotions, carefully planned retirements, and “normalcy” — never quite felt like mine. It wasn’t until I picked up a paintbrush that I realized I didn’t have to live a cookie-cutter life.

Art changed everything.

Each time I dip a brush into vibrant color, I feel it again — that breath of fresh air. That reminder that I’m free. Free to create. Free to dream. Free to mess up and try again. Painting has become more than a passion — it’s a rebellion against the expected. It’s my reminder that life is meant to be lived boldly, not cautiously.

I don’t believe in sticking to simple, repetitive projects. My paint-and-sip nights go beyond palm trees and sunsets. I challenge my students with complex, rewarding pieces inspired by historical masterpieces, Hawaiian landscapes, and the rich stories woven into this island's natural beauty. Why? Because I believe everyone — yes, everyone — is capable of creating something extraordinary.
