When a local coffee shop came to me struggling to bring in new customers, I knew exactly what they needed: a mural that would stop people in their tracks, get the community talking, and make their space completely unforgettable. Here is how it all unfolded, step by step.

Step 1: Getting to Know the Brand (and the Coffee)
Before a single brushstroke, I sat down with the owner to really understand who they are. We talked about their story, their vibe, their vision for the space, and of course I got to try their absolutely delicious coffee and pastries. Good art starts with good listening, and honestly, the pastries did not hurt either. Walking away from that meeting, I had a clear picture of what the mural needed to feel like.
Step 2: Creating the Concept Art
Next came the concept phase. I developed artwork that matched their color scheme, reflected their personality, and felt like a natural extension of their brand. This stage is one of my favorites because it is where the idea starts to come to life on paper before it ever touches a wall. The owner was involved in the feedback process the whole way through so that the final design truly felt like theirs.
Step 3: Painting the Mural (and Building Buzz Every Day)
Here is where the magic really started. Every single day while I was painting, I posted progress content and tagged the coffee shop. People in the community started watching, commenting, and sharing before the mural was even finished. By the time I put down my brush, there was already a real audience who knew about this place and were excited to come see it in person. The process itself became part of the marketing.
Step 4: The Mural Reveal Party
We did not just unveil the mural, we threw a party. The reveal event brought a crowd of new faces through the door who had never visited before. They got to experience the space, taste the coffee, and feel the energy of the community all at once. It was the perfect introduction. Many of them came back.
Step 5: A Paint and Sip Class Right in the Shop
To keep the momentum going, I hosted a paint and sip class right there in the coffee shop. Guests got to create their own art while sipping their favorite drinks in a space that felt warm, creative, and one of a kind. It gave people yet another reason to walk through the door and another memory tied to that space.

The Results: A 3x in Sales That Month
Together, all of these steps led to a 3x increase in sales for that month. The investment in the mural paid for itself and then some. But beyond the numbers, the coffee shop now has a community of new regulars, a wall full of beautiful user-generated content from customers tagging the mural on social media, and a reputation as the it place in town to grab your coffee. Art did not just decorate their walls. It transformed their business.
If you have a business that could use a little more life, color, and community, let's talk. A mural might be exactly what your space has been missing. Check out what we can do together here:
